Wednesday! OMG Sale for Tickets to Burning Man 2015

Burning Man 1996 event ticket

Burning Man 1996 event ticket

The OMG Sale is coming up tomorrow, for those who registered. And just like the Individual Sale, there are lot more registrants than there are tickets available.

Yep, that’s right … the secret’s out about Burning Man, demand is high, and the reality is that most of you aren’t going to be able to get a ticket. But if you don’t get one in the OMG Sale, don’t despair: be patient, get the word out there, stay connected to your Burner community, and one could very well make its way to you.

Some things to consider when purchasing tickets in the open market:

  1. Don’t buy a ticket from someone you don’t know unless you’re certain they aren’t ripping you off (with this much demand, the predators will be out there).
  2. If you purchase a ticket from a stranger, be absolutely sure it’s not a counterfeit before you buy it. (Stay tuned for a post about how to recognize a counterfeit.)
  3. Buying a ticket above face value perpetuates the scalping system. Don’t be part of the problem. Use STEP or buy from people you know, and only pay face value plus fees.

And lastly, keep in mind that Black Rock City is not the only place to get your burn on. There are over 60 Burns happening around the world, including Nowhere in Spain, AfrikaBurn in South Africa, Israel’s Midburn, Flipside in Austin — even one in Korea! And these Burns, like the one in Black Rock City, are just as amazing as you make ’em.

Best of luck in the sale, and we hope to see you on playa.

Real fur performs way better out there than fake fur. It’s softer, stays warmer and/or colder as you need it.

Be sure to buy second hand, and the morality of it isn’t offensive either. IMO.

I thought that STEP was closed as of July 24. Can someone please confirm whether or not OMG sale tickets can be sold through step?

Once again the ticket sale lets you stay in line to only have an option to donate to Burning Man. Seriously, is it really that hard to kick everyone out of line if all the ticket sales are actually complete? After all the complaints of this in the main sale, does the BOrg really have to keep insulting us in this way? “You can’t buy a ticket or a parking pass, but how about you still give us money?”

I remained in the line in case someone’s sale fell through and a ticket got put back into the queue, but it was a waste of my time. Stopping wasting our time, if the sales have been finalized then end the queue process, don’t just ask for more money.

Really devasted our group still didn’t get tickets in the OMG Sale. We did everything as described to no avail. Hoping to make some magic happen and manifest 4 tickets and a vehicle pass! If anyone has an idea – hit me up! I refuse to pay a scalper – it’s just not the BM way!

It looks like the folks at the org are learning from the ticket sale process, although there can still be refinements. From what I read, it seems like people who logged in before 12:02 were held in electronic limbo when the “queue” actually opened, at which point those people were reassigned from limbo into random slots in the queue. I think this is a good thing because the vagaries of electronic transmission mean that your request might not actually get there before someone who actually clicked a few seconds after you. By my calculations, at the sale earlier this year, if you didn’t click within 12 seconds after noon, you were out of luck. This is effectively random selection already, so it’s best to make it official and to include people who might be using a clock that is not synced to Greenwich Mean Time. However, I see that some people were upset because they logged in before noon and told not to leave the page because they would lose their place in line. It seems that people were confused between the “line,” which it seemed they could get in, and the “queue,” which is what opened at 12:02 with a random assignment of the people in “line.” Is that correct? Cleaning up the language would help next year.

Now just don’t let Will Call become a debacle/purgatory/travesty.

Reaching out to the dusty Starlite community for a parking pass. My hubby is a virgin. I’ve been soOo looking forward to coming home this year and introducing my husband to my true soulful self, friends and family. As per the website, I am reaching out to the community with n one someone has a parking pass for us at face value. We are fairly self-sustainable for the burn so we can’t do burner Xpress. Thank you for your generosity. Blessings!
