While I am one of many dusty media types both Caveat and And Andie made me feel like ... eh, one more dusty media type.

That's not true. On the playa a lot is happening all at the same time and I tried to not cause a fuss with silly questions, besides, I was busy trying to figure out what was going on while being distracted by ... everything.

However, a few weeks ago, she and I had an email exchange about a photography/writing feature I want to pitch to a magazine or two, ethics and life. Anyone who has ever read anything I wrote may realize I tend to ramble on a bit and delve into excruciating detail and tangental sorts of things. She handled it well and even encouraged it.

Being a shiny new burner on the playa for the first time AND volunteering at Media Mecca was a bit overwhelming. By the time I figured it all out, Yoms was making that outrageous feast (I called him a beast in the kitchen, but my Yankee must not have translated well into Real English, he scowled at me).

I'm a little bummed I won't be able to at least say hi in person to AG (wait, did I already do that last year? I have no idea ... will she be on the playa this year? more questions ) on the playa. It takes a lot for me to really be impressed with people, but Andie really did that for me. I'm still a little hopeful about finding a ticket (or maybe even a job!) and subsequently volunteering for Media Mecca.

Caveat is secretly upset that my replies to some of his blog posts were longer than the original posts, but I slowed that down and he probably no longer wishes me ill. Now, I send them telepathically and interrupt his afternoon naps.

i'll never forget the time when AG and i first met. i dropped my pen during a dust storm while i was trying to get her to sign off on a shipment to first camp. i dropped down to look for the pen and as i was sifting through the dust, i was thinking - damn, i'm looking like an ass in front of all the founders. i was so embarrassed.

then AG, seeing the pen with her steely hawk-eyes, bend down to pick it up. it was at that moment that doves of peace flew out from between her legs and filled the sky with a whiteness so fantastic that i could hear angels singing. when the doves of peace finally un-blocked the sky, a triple rainbow was cresting across the playa in richness of color like i've never seen before; like i never thought possible!

suddenly everyone began to weep and hug each other...

AG stood up with the pen in her hand and looked at me and asked the question i've always wanted to answer: is this your pen? i said, YES! YES! YES!
