Great suggestions from Halcyon. I would like to comment on the recommendation to drink “a gallon of water a day” however. One of the more common, and more serious reasons for people to visit the medical tent is hyponatremia (low sodium). Simply put, if you drink too much water without adding a little salt to the mix (ie: gatorade, or simply eating something salty), you dilute out the salt normally in your body, and then you’re REALLY sick. I recommend eating something with each half gallon, or alternating an electrolyte solution with each bottle of plain water you drink.

Purchase dry ice for your cooler, this works well and lasts for a few days keeping your stuff chilled. Another tip, put your chocolate in a tupperware container and set on top of your hunk of dry ice to keep it from turning into a gooey mess. The frozen water jugs is a great idea, and what a fun video Halcyon and Shonda :-)

I BUY AND FREEZE WATER JUGS 3 DAYS BEFORE HEADING TO THE BURN. THEY MAKE FOR GOOD ICE AND LAST LONGER THAN CRUSHED ICE. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT ONCE THE ICE CUBE IS ALMOST COMPLETELY MELTED, USE IT AS ICE COLD DRINKING WATER TO BRING AS YOU GO OUT DURING THE HOT DAYS. YOU MAY ONLY NEED TO BUY ICE ONE TIME WHILE YOU ARE THERE.

Here’s a tip: When you’re ready to start your trip to the Playa, pause to take a group photo of everybody holding their tickets. That way you know that 1) everybody has their ticket with them, and 2) it isn’t packed away in an inaccessible place. If you have early entry passes, everybody should be holding those in the photo too. Make this a new tradition.
