I had to stay in Denmark for 2010. (I haven´t found burners i Copenhagen except the few I have been travelling with, so please shout if you are here :o))
But I wanted actully to tell you all, that having a heart beating for BRC is a gift I perhaps not really understood untill this 2010.
Alone in my summerhouse in the country. For the whole BM-week. Only a mouse now and then, two horses as neighbours, and my cat. I made a fire in my garden, between the Man burn and the Temple burn. I calculated a bit wrong with the branches, so it got hmm...very big, :oD! I cooked my dinner at it first, then it got really high, I meditated and trew old stuff into the fire.
Letters, thoughts, feelings I had to let go. Wishes for the new life always coming from a fire. It was my holy fire. I knew you were all there in the desert. I fell very connected. I knew Liz, my dear friend from Reno would snap up my thoughts, I just KNOW! ;o) Having connection to BM, in heart, I think it will always stay there: the trust and belief. The loving knowlegde that we for ever changed and connected. Im never alone. Kisses, Connie

The DC Metro area usually hosts a burn away from home event every year during the burn weekend. Last year they called it "Burning Dan" - they built a man, had a dance tent, a center camp, everyone camped out at the remote location, hung out and generally burned - without getting dusty and w/ real potties (and a hot tub!)

This year, my fiance (now my husband!) and I skipped Burning Man as our vacation time and funds went to our wedding. However, some of our awesome friends who attend the closest regional (playa del fuego) and not all of whom have made it to the desert hosted an amazing fire pit in their backyard. Several people worked on building a Man, and my fiance and I designed and built a temple.

While designing and creating a piece of burnable art was rewarding in many ways, we were blown away with the fact that while we built the structure, it was the other participants who turned it into a true temple. Notes, gifts, wishes, and laments that they burned with our piece made it a really touching and moving experience for us, and meant so much. It was an experience that I won't ever forget, and I certainly hope we have a chance to do it again soon!
