Steve, we met briefly this year after the Saturday's invocation - I was the one who gave it. I've been a Lamplighter for the past 3 years, and this was the best year ever.

The culture of the Lamplighter village is one of working hard and partying hard - we maintain a bar and lounge that is open all hours of the day EXCEPT when we light lamps - we kick you out and tell you to help out lighting the city during these hours.

Some of the people in Lamplighter Village are the most dedicated people I've ever seen - the number of lamp tattoos in camp is astounding. Once a lamplighter, always a lamplighter.

I am trying to archive some of the invocations this year. The invocation is never exactly the same, and varies depending on the individual who gives it. I tend to write some notes down before I give my version, but others have been known to just "wing it". We always try to include the three "gifts" the lamps bring to Black Rock City - Illumination, Navigation, and Celebration.

I'm already looking forward to next year's burn!

I joined the Lamplighters for my first Burn in 2009. The camp and the people couldn't have made me feel more welcomed. It is a great camp for those going to Burning Man on their own or for the first time. You really feel as though you are part of a super family. And the bar is Kickass too. Good on ya Lamplighters!

Thank you Lamplighters!! I do it one day every year, it's such an awesome way to really take part in making an essential part of Burning Man happen. I do it on Monday usually so I can see the lanterns that I helped with all week long!

Steve Mobia, I do not have any new news to report but I do want to say thank you! Thank you so much for beginning this ritual and I hope it continues mostly unchanged!
I have never been a lamplighter, I've been to Burning Man once in 2001. I haven't been back - long story - but I do remember the admiration I had for the lamplighters! Lamplighters, for me symbolized the path humanity shares. That path for me was a path of evolution and purity.
Reading your remarks has inspired me to make it a goal to attend BM at least one more time again in my life and share the light that has grown inside of me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and the top of my spirit!
I hope you find here what your looking for.
Sincerely,
Ingrid
