This is a fascinating idea. Closure is so vitally important to relationships and in the process of overcoming loss. A ceremony like this would have a great healing effect. It's very interesting. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Indeed the burning rituals did touch me, significently. The simple act of burning away a thought that I wrote on a coffee stir and glued to the art structure in Center Camp allowed it to rightfully leave me and travel back to the cosmos to heal.

Freedom. Such magnificent freedom.

Thank you doesn't seem like enough, yet its what I have from the depths of my soul.

Lee Gilmore - I'm inspired by your words and research. As I write this I am struggling to sit down and write my masters thesis on last year's temple burn. Continually letting go. As you all revel in playa dust I will be taking that collective energy and funneling it into my work. Thanks for all you have put out there in the academy - you are raging geek, in the best sense of the word.

Yes! And forever! 'Letting Go' is the for most thought related to Burning Man for me. And on tons of levels. I believe that the mental spark of thinking about Burning Man is what brings everyone back, in those two halves of seconds, that says; 'I'm going to be able to - LET GO - TAKE IN - RELEASE - BE - and this is what is so missed/needed for everyone the other weeks of life. And this is what we try to instill in our children and in ourselves in the beyond. Good times can be just around then corner.
